Massage Table Accessories

The majority of a massage therapist's talent comes from their "magic hands". However massage accessories add that extra touch. They can add convenience and comfort to a massage session and set you apart from your competition.

Popular massage accessories include some of the following:

Adjustable Headrests: These adjust to custom-fit your client's face and neck - providing the utmost comfort during massage treatment. Adjustable headrests are ideal to for proper neck, shoulder and face support. Most headrests are also designed to adjust so that massage therapists have easier access to the back of their client's neck.

Armrests: Offer additional comfort and convenience to both the client and therapist. Some styles fit under the face rest with a swivel shelf; while others hang from the headrest. Armrests increase the effectiveness of treatments by letting therapists position the client so that you have greater access to their shoulder girdle and the ball-and-socket nature of the shoulder joint.

Side Extensions: are helpful for clients who have broader shoulders than average. Side extensions are a great way to add width to a massage table for additional comfort and support. Most models are removable so you can just add them when needed.

Foot Rests: The extension of the foot rest provides tall clients with extra surface to rest their feet during treatments. Foot rests can add up to 10-inches to the length of a massage table. Footrests are made to be removable if you don't need the extra length.

Bolsters: encourage proper neck support. They are commonly found in round and full round styles. The bolster can be quickly and easily slipped under your client's neck for added comfort, support and reduced muscle strain. The full round bolster is the perfect size for supporting your client's neck, lumbar spine, knees, legs and ankles - depending on their position during treatment. Adding a bolster for proper support will decrease muscle strain and unnecessary tension on tendons and ligaments during treatments.

Electric Table Warmers: Vinyl massage tables can be cold and uncomfortable. Table warmers provide a safe and even heat from one end of the table to the other. Massage therapists know that effective treatments need to begin with a relaxed warm body, so a few minutes resting comfortably on a heated massage table can help the client relax. Most table warmers have elastic bands that hold them in place and adjustable heat settings.

Reflexology Stools: Massage therapists are able to sit comfortably while gliding around the massage table quickly and easily on a stool with wheels. Most stools come with a hydraulic lift for easy height adjustments - from 18-inches to 25-inches - with the flick of a lever. Stools are perfect for performing reflexology, reiki and other massage treatments where the therapist needs to be seated.
