Massage Rollers
Stimulation rollers are massage devices that are rolled over the body to stimulate various acupressure and reflex points. Stimulation rollers may come in different shapes and sizes, but they are all based on the same principles of reflexology and pressure point therapy.
Your most basic stimulation roller comes in the form of one individual roller. Usually these forms of rollers are used on the feet only, but they can also be rolled over other parts of the body. The rollers deliver a pressure point or reflex massage by the raised-pyramidal surface of the roller. The raised areas stimulate the acupressure points to relieve tired feet and other areas of pain throughout the body. Stimulation rollers break up the tension in the muscles, which releases toxins and encourages a healthy flow of life energy.
These stimulation rollers are easy to use. Simply place it on the floor and roll your feet over the roller, one at a time, for a relaxing massage. Or you can use the roller in your hand and apply it to various other parts of your body.
Other kinds of stimulation rollers are ideal for spot massage on targeted problem areas. These rollers consist of a long handle with two small rollers on the end. The rollers look like little wheels with raised, rounded projections for stimulation. To operate, you simply grab the tool by the handle and push the rollers across your body. You can use the roller on your own body, or give a massage to a friend. They are especially great on large areas of tight muscles that could use some reduction in tension. For an even more pleasurable experience you can use the stimulation rollers in combination with massage oils.
The stimulation rollers mentioned so far have been wooden rollers. There are however, also various kinds of metal rollers. Some of these metals include aluminum, stainless steel, and brass. Metal stimulation rollers as you can imagine, provide more intense stimulation of the skin and pressure points. The structure of a metallic roller usually consists of one medium sized roller with a long handle to control the massage. The roller is covered in a spiked, pyramidal surface that provides the pressure point stimulation when applied to the skin. The pressure applied by the stimulation rollers can be as gentle or as hard as desired.
Stimulation rollers are perfect massage tools for acupressure and reflexology therapy. The raised surfaces of the stimulation rollers effectively excite the pressure points of the body to promote healing and overall well-being.
