Resources on Salaries
Question:I am starting a spa business in Marin County, CA, and was wondering if you had any resources on salaries for therapists in this area. I have searched online and have not been successful.

I am not familiar with the going rates and salaries in your area. I would recommend calling a few establishments to speak with the Massage Therapists and ask what type of salaries or pay schedule they are using.
You can also estimate salaries by determining the average cost of a one-hour massage in your area, and then asking some local therapists what kind of revenue "split" is common (ie., in Ontario, Canada, the average split is 30-70 % split, 30 for the employer and 70 for the therapist).
There are also several spa software computer programs available that would help give you better direction. Check the shopping links on Massage Therapy 101 for some of these.
