License Requirements in British Columbia
Question:Do I have to be licensed to practice Massage Therapy in BC, (attend college for years) or can I just take relevant seminars and short courses to practice legally there?

British Columbia is a highly regulated province in regards to Massage Therapy. Registered massage therapists in British Columbia are among the most educated and highly-trained professionals in the world. To become an RMT in B.C, students must complete at least 3,000 hours of training over three years at an accredited college. Standard educational requirements include comprehensive studies in health sciences such as anatomy, physiology, pathology, kinesiology and neuroanatomy. Additional studies include clinical sciences - such as manual skills, orthopedics, remedial exercise, hydrotherapy and patient education. You are required to be registered in order to practice Massage Therapy in British Columbia. Registration under the College of Massage Therapists (CMT) means that you have completed the required board exams and educational component to obtain your license.
