Massage Boundaries

Question:

I hired a masseuse to come and give my girlfriend a massage and he rubbed her nipples in the process. Is that allowed? We live in Ohio and I am concerned about it. She did have a sheet covering her, but I just don't know.

Answer:

This is a good question, as so many people do not know what to expect for their first massage and this type of incident happens all the time. The rubbing of nipples (with or without the sheet) is not allowed for a general massage treatment.

First of all, there is to be NO touching of breasts or nipples without the consent from the client. Breast massage is indicated for certain conditions, and it would have to be established by the client prior to the treatment. The therapist would explain in detail how it would be performed and then consent would HAVE to be received before the treatment starts. The client should know exactly what to expect during the treatment and should feel comfortable during the massage. You may want to get in touch with the appropriate college or association, so this kind of incident does not happen again.
